Speech Arts
Speech arts involves reciting selections of poetry or prose as well as monologues, excerpts from plays and short skits. I am an experienced theatre director, working with child, teen, and adult casts. Notable directing credits include Emma (2018), Persuasion (2015) and Anne of Green Gables (2012) with Newman Players and The Stinky Cheeseman and Other Fairly Stupid Tales (2020) and The Princess and the Pea (2019) at Humboldt Public School.
I will coach students in areas such as diction, projection, presence, accents and dramatic delivery. I will also help students choose what classes to compete in at festival and find selections of prose or poetry.
Speech arts term runs from January-March, culminating in students performing in their local festival.
Due to the nature of speech arts, practice sessions tend to be short and occur less frequently (likely every 2-3 weeks). Many motivated performers may only need a few practice sessions. Practices will be set up as needed.
Fees are set at a rate of $20/half hour of coaching.
